After creating a Linked Site by following the Level 2 instructions, you will create another Favorite Page, similar to the one you created in Level 2. The site will have at least three pages: a home page and two sub-topic pages. Then you will submit your WebDesign folder with both Web sites to your instructor.

Instructions

  1. Make sure the Linked Site you created in Level 2 meets the criteria in the Level 2

    grading rubric.

  2. Then, make a second site about another topic, using the following instructions:

    1. Plan the site. Choose a topic with at least two parts to it, so that you will have at least three pages: a home page and a page about each sub-topic. You will need two images for each sub-topic. Use the Finding_Images document to

      help you find images.

    2. Make a folder named Level2B in your WebDesign folder.

    3. Open KompoZer and create the pages for the site (at least three pages total). Give them descriptive page titles, and give them file names of index.html, page1.html, and page2.html.

    4. Add the Level2B folder to the Site Manager.

    5. Copy and paste the images for the site into your Level2B folder.

    6. Resize the images so they are 72 ppi in resolution and about 300-600 pixels in height and width, and optimize them as JPEGs to approximately 30KB.

    7. Make one image from each sub-topic into a thumbnail image that is 200 pixels on its longest side and that is optimized to 10-15KB in file size.

    8. Set identical background and text colors for each page in the site. Make sure the text color stands out on the background.

    9. On the home page, add heading text with the Web site title at the top, and format the text as heading 1. Add heading text with the page title at the top of each other page, and format the text as heading 1. Set the heading text alignment and font to match on each page.

    10. Create a table on the home page. It will need space for page titles and descriptions of the other pages and their thumbnail images.

  1. On the home page, add thumbnail images, page titles, and descriptions of the other pages. Format the text font and size, and then link the thumbnail images and page titles to the other pages.

  2. On each of the sub-topic pages, create a table with a top row to hold links, space for two images, and space for descriptive text. Join the cells for the links row and the cells for the descriptive text as needed.

m. On the sub-topic pages, add the larger images and text about the topic. Format the text font and size to match the text on the home page. Add links in the top row to the other pages in the site, including a link to Home.

  1. Test the site in a Web browser.

  2. Make sure your Web site meets the criteria in the Level 2B grading rubric.

3. Zip and submit your WebDesign folder to your instructor. TIP: See the zip
