north american tribes, History Discussion Question

For most North American Native American tribes, if you lived among them, you became one of them, regardless of your origins.  The assumption was you would contribute to the maintenance of the group.  In other words, the Natives at least at this time were “inclusive,” meaning they included those who lived among them in sharing their resources.

What specific economic, social, political, cultural, racial and/or technological factors in or reasons behind the Spanish, French, Dutch, and English explorations influenced their ideas about other peoples that they encountered?  Were the Spanish, French, Dutch, and English more inclusive or exclusive (meaning they excluded those that they saw as different), and why?
