In response to postmodern tribalism, Christians often lament the loss of modernism, seeing it as a bastion of absolute truth. The text, however, points out several ways that modernism marginalized Christianity (along with other groups) and how Christianity has oppressed people with its claim to absolute truth (e.g. slavery). Is it possible for absolute truth to co-exist with the influence of tribalism? What lessons can we learn about our own cultural influences on our Christianity?
