  General Guidelines for research Paper

1.  A title page should be the first page of the paper and should include the following: title of the paper, student’s name, course title, college name, and date.  See the sample page.

2.  With the exception of the title page, each page should be numbered consecutively with numerals appearing at the upper right hand corner of the page.

3.  Different levels of subtitles may be used to identify sections of the paper.

4.   Any material used should be properly cited.

5.  For guidelines regarding reference, punctuation, and other style format follow APA (American Psychological Association manual, fifth edition).

6.  All papers should be typed clearly and double-spaced (including the larger quotations and the reference) with appropriate margins.

7.  A reference (bibliography) should appear at the end of the text.

8.  Final copy should be submitted only after proofreading.

Typing Specifications

  APA (American Psychological Association) Format

Paper. Use standard-sized white paper (81/2 x 11 inches).

Type should be dark, clear, and readable.

Spacing. Double space between all lines, including block quotations.

Margins should be 1inch on all 4 sides.

Page numbers should be consecutive, typed in the upper right-hand corner of each page.

Indentation. Indent the first line ofevery paragraph five to sevenspaces and then return to the left margin. Block quotations (more than 40 words) should be typed on the indented margin (double spaced). Shorter quotations shouldbe incorporated intothe text with quotation marks.
