What are some of the important things you need to know about intimate relationships and interpersonal attraction for your matchmaking business?

I think some of the things that I need to know about my matchmaking business, is what percentage of people that will be using the business, how do people feel about this kind of business, I also feel that it will be very important to know if there is any danger in this kind of business. Another important thing to remember is what age group would be involved in this business.

What does the research show in terms of the factors that influence strategic misrepresentation in someone’s online profile?

According to Hall, Cody, Park, & Song, the greatest concern in a computer-mediated communication (CMC), “uncertainly during relational initiation is magnified by impression management concern” (Hall, Cody, Park, & Song). This authors also stated that during a research seven things were examined and they were “personal asset, relationship goals, personal traits, personal attributes, past relationships, weight and age “((Hall, Cody, Park, & Song).

What strategies could you initiate to minimize or prevent misrepresentation?

To minimize or prevent someone from misrepresentation I think the first think a person should consider is the fact that there are many individuals using on line dating as a matter of fact in 2006 more than 10 million people participate in dating online this was done by continuing a connection or either a profile on at least one dating site (Madden & Lanhart, 2006). Also I would ask the people not to share private information, self-efficacy, internet experience, uncertainty, and self-disclosure, Gibbs, Ellison, & Lai (2011). The research that was done on online dating result confirm that many individuals that use online dating tend to provide too much information about themselves, and many time dating line match will also do a search on the individual on such site as goggle and well as check public records. Online dating has its good point as well as the bad point, in the event that some choose this as a way to meet people I would suggest that they never ever tell the person where they live or work, or even give them a private number, this can cause more problem than they could ever imagine.

In addition to what you have learned this week, what have you learned in previous weeks that may assist you in launching a successful dating website? Please be specific and cite sources.

I have learned that when opening a business if I were to take the advice of Aristotle I would become very successful, Aristotle use three strategies he felt that using these plans a person could master being effective in encourage others the three strategies of persuasive are:

Logos which involves facts, numbers and real information this will make the advice that I am giving more convincing (Trueblood, 2015).

Pathos- this will revoke an emotion in the clients it will allow them to be happy, although it could also cause some of them to be sad or angry but because I am market mu business it will be happy in what I offer (Trueblood, 2015).

Ethos this will give this will make them feel comfortable in trusting me, and because they trust that I have their best interest at heart my business will be very successful (Trueblood, 2015).

What are some of the important things you need to know about intimate relationships and interpersonal attraction for your matchmaking business?

Some important things that needs to be known about intimate relationships and interpersonal attraction for a matchmaking business would be to create a website that will validate communications between the partners that will allow them to engage in the meaningful (face-to-face interactions, including both verbal and nonverbal communications), which allow one person to give to and receive from the other. This will allow the partners to develop that attractiveness (between the two) that they desire (Sun, K Ph.D., 2010 para, 2). Another thing that is important for a match making business is to remember that individuals are attracted to other individuals whom share the same similarities as they do. By matching couples together by their similarities will create a greater possibility that they will like each other (jrank, 2016 para, 2).

A big concern in online dating and social media, in general, is misrepresentation in the online profile. What does the research show in terms of the factors that influence strategic misrepresentation in someone’s online profile?

Strategic misrepresentation is the conscious and intentional misrepresentation of characteristics about oneself (Goffman, 1959; Grammer, Kruck, Juette, & Fink, 2000 p118). Studies show that most individuals are particularly concerned with the impression they are making, for instance, how attractive they look(Berger & Bell, 1988; Kunkel, Wilson, Olufowote, & Robson, 2003 p118). In fact, uncertainty during relational initiation is magnified by impression management concerns. That is, the greater the concern about making a positive impression, the more communicators must be on guard against deception (Goffman, 1959; Grammer, Kruck, Juette, & Fink, 2000 p118).

What strategies could you initiate to minimize or prevent misrepresentation?

Online environments offer individuals an increased ability to control their self-presentation, and therefore greater opportunities to engage in misrepresentation” (Cornwell & Lundgren, 2001 para 1). To lessen this possibility a strategy that I would initiate to minimize or prevent misrepresentation would be to validate communications between the partners that will allow them to engage with one another (face to face). (Cornwell and Lundgren, 2001 para 1) found that individuals involved in online romantic relationships were more likely to engage in misrepresentation than those involved in face-to-face romantic relationships.

In addition to what you have learned this week, what have you learned in previous weeks that may assist you in launching a successful dating website?

In previous weeks, I have learned that launching a successful dating website has its limitations. These limitations are expected in online dating, match making, or any business that connects individuals together as a couple. To prevent these limitations from being a problem, (misrepresentations) there should be background check that will prevent future conflict. Some dating websites have recently committed to conducting background checks on their clients are Match.com, eHarmony and Sparks Networks (operator of JDate and ChristianMingle) are also among those who will be conducting background checks to scan the histories of possible clients for sexual assault, identity theft and violence before allowing them access to their fee-based sites (Newcomb, T. (2012 para 1).
