You will be reading some excerpts from the Iliad and our most complete account of Heracles (Hercules) from antiquity in the the Library of Apollodorus, who was a mythographer (someone who gathers and records the tellings of myth traditions). While reading through these accounts, consider the list of 10 Greek Saga motifs that I covered in lecture. Which do you see in our stories? Do you notice other patterns that are not present in the ten? If so, what do you think they are?
