Do some basic research about your selected country–both its present and its past–focusing on information that relates to the theories you read about. (For example, the economy, how the country is and has been related to wealthier countries, etc.) One good source of information is The CIA World Fact Book. Once you get a basic overview from that site, you can do further research on your own to learn more.
