Requirements:

Select any type of collective action (e.g., riots, panics) or social movement (e.g., civil rights, animal rights, environmental rights) of interest to you. Prepare a 3 to 5-page description of the collective action or social movement, and also provide a sociological explanation of your selected action or movement. In your paper, include the sociological terms, theories, and/or research that you think apply, and explain how these apply. 

Your project should have five sections, as follows:

Introduction (1 paragraph): an introductory paragraph that brings the reader’s attention to the collective action such as a social movement or a riot, that you will address and why it is sociologically meaningful.

A brief overview of the collective action (1 paragraph): with the assumption that the reader has not heard about it.

Application of sociological analysis of the collective action (3-4 paragraphs): Discuss at least 4 concepts and/or theories from our course that can be applied to shed light on aspects of the collective action. You need to explain which sociological perspective best describes this collective action, the type of collective action, which stage it is in, what are the strategies used for mass mobilization, what is its future, etc..

Conclusion (1 paragraph): Draw together the ideas from your paper in an interesting way that gives the reader insight into what you have learned from this collective action from a sociological perspective.
