Soft power is a new concept in how modern states relate to other nations in the world community. The success of soft power depends on leadership. The information revolution has changed the way in which states interact; however leadership is the key in determining the success of policy outcomes. The technology of the information age allows the world to view and learn about events with incredible immediacy. Think about the attacks of 9/11. The two airliners crashing into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York proves that the world has become a battle space. After the first plane crashed into the first tower, there was an eighteen minute gap before the second plane crashed into tower two. That gap was enough time for virtually every camera crew in New York to make it to the scene and begin live coverage.
