Research Profile Instructions

The Research Profile is an important part of the process of taking ownership of your dissertation phase. It allows you to begin identifying your intentions for the study by describing the significance, raising questions, and providing research objectives to address these components.

To this end, you will submit a research profile in 2 parts:

Part 1: Research Profile Draft

Based on the readings for this course, the Annotated Bibliography, and the initial findings of the literature review, you will identify 1 salient issue or problem in leadership or education. This may or may not be the intended research project for the dissertation. From this finding, the student will develop a research profile that is 3–5 pages. Please submit Part 1 in Module/Week 5, with Part 2, the final version, due in Module/Week 6. Please see the summary outline of expectations (Intent of Study) below. Part 1 must be clearly identified as Part 1. Please do not submit previously graded work from other courses and be judicious in application of previously submitted work from this course.

Intent of the study

Identify the topic. Select 1 topic issue or problem based upon your readings for this course or from your own leadership experience. Write a 2–3 paragraph description of this problem. Be very specific.

Based upon this finding, write a brief description of the significance of that problem for the practice of Christian leadership.

In light of the problem or topic you have identified, set out 3–5 potential questions that frame this issue as it relates to your potential dissertation work. As a researcher, what are the questions you have about the problem you have identified that you intend to explore and research? Write a brief overview (summary) of these questions.

Based on the questions you have enumerated, identify potential research objectives that seek to address those questions in view of your dissertation. What is your objective in researching this problem?

Implementation phase 3

Phase 3-Implementation (Due by WEEK 9)

Phase 3 of the research project is the implementation phase. The implementation phase will be written in future state as we will not be implementing the actual project. This phase focuses on providing steps by steps instructions on how the program will be implemented, a table describing the time frame of the project, if there is any budget that needs to be taking into account, and any resources or statistically tools required. The length of this paper should be around 5-6 pages.

Unit III MINI PROJECT

Instructions

As a continuation of our course project due in Unit VII (a Permit by Rule (PBR) Evaluation for Painting Operation Facility), complete the next section—VOC and ES Content per Unit—of your proposal by following the instructions carefully, and then submit your continued draft of your evaluation document into Blackboard for grading.

  1. Closely read the required reading assignment from the textbook and the unit lesson in the study guide, and consider reading the suggested reading.
  2. Open your proposal draft from Unit II, and make any improvements to your draft using your professor’s feedback from the Unit II Mini Project.
  3. Open the Unit III Study Guide, and review the calculations demonstrated and explained (specifically regarding VOC and ES weights per gallon and per unit for our given scenario data). Be sure to use the scenario data instead of the data used in the study guide examples.
  4. Make your Unit III work the second level 1 heading, titled “VOC and ES Content per Unit.” Describe the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) implications of VOCs in the work system while pulling from the textbook as well as any other relevant sources that are presented in the unit lesson in the study guide. In your description of the EHS implications of the system, be sure to discuss the natural and anthropomorphic variables causally related to indoor air pollution. Perform and present (not hand-written, but neatly typed) the calculations for both the VOC and ES values (in lbs) in this section of your project.
  5. In your abstract section (page 2 of the document), write one or two sentences that reflect your work for this unit. Remember that we are adding one sentence per unit to reflect our work as we go, with the final abstract length being about 8 to 10 sentences long.

Your narrative and calculations for the VOC and ES content per unit must be presented in at least 200 words (minimum). You are required to use at least one outside source, which may be your textbook. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying APA citations.

Remember that any required calculations are fully presented and explained within the Study Guide every week. As such, simply read the Study Guide and present any explained calculations mathematically with empirical math within the permit evaluation draft. Email me for any clarifications before you submit your work for a grade, and be sure to include any corrections in your current work from all

Assignment

Chapter 13 discussed managing complex systems and chapter 15 introduced the advantages of visual decision support. Discuss how you would combine the two concepts to create visualizations for an ABM-Based Gaming simulation for policy making. First, describe what specific policy you’re trying to create. Let’s stick with the SmartCity scenario. Describe a specific policy (that you haven’t used before), and how you plan to use ABM-Based Gaming to build a model for simulate the effects of the policy. Then, describe what type of visualization technique you’ll use to make the model more accessible. Use figure 15.9 and describe what data a new column for your policy would contain.

To complete this assignment, you must do the following:

A) Create a new thread. As indicated above, discuss how you would combine the two concepts to create visualizations for an ABM-Based Gaming simulation for policy making. Globalyceum Composition—An Online Writing Training Workshop

You will find an online writing training workshop called Globalyceum Composition in Student Information in your Globalyceum Student Portal.  Students using this step-by-step workshop have been very successful in writing good analytical papers.  The online workshop contains information, videos, and practice tests on writing the parts of a paper–thesis, outline, and draft. It also has instructions for specific aspects of the writing process–topic sentences, transitions, punctuation, as well as introduction and conclusion paragraphs. I recommend that you use the online workshop to help you compose this research paper.

Submission

You may submit the paper through ILearn or Globalyceum.  I will inform you of my preferred submission location during the semester.  If your paper is late, I will deduct points for each day it is late.

Grading

The written assignment is worth 300 points.  While I like to grade in a wholistic style, meaning I judge the paper as a whole when I give a grade, I will be looking for the following features in your paper, and I have listed them in the attached Grading Guidelines.

Grading Guidelines for Written Assignment

Thesis and Introduction

The student has a clear position or assertion about the state of either California campaign finance reform or government transparency.  The thesis is located in the introductory paragraph of the paper.  The first paragraph does a good job of introducing the reader to the topic.

See Globalyceum > Student Information > Composition > Thesis and Draft > Introduction Paragraph

Research and Sources

The student has done an effective job of researching the paper in the library and/or on the internet.  There are at least 10 sources.  They are from diverse sites or types of literature.  The accuracy and credibility of the sites and sources is good.

See my recommended sites on the Written Paper Instructions for examples of quality.

Argument of the Paper

The paper is at least 6 pages double-spaced, in a size 12-font, and in a standard font style, such as Times or Times New Roman.  The paper has clear topic sentences in the paragraphs followed by evidence from the sources.  The paper has a conclusion paragraph that summarizes the argument.

See Globalyceum > Student Infomration > Composition > Draft

Citation

The paper is properly cited with inline notes in APA style and a bibliography or Works Cited page attached.

See many cites on the web for APA guidelines, but the Purdue OWL is a good place: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/

Punctuation and Grammer

Since this is college, I expect that your paper will have complete, coherent sentences and proper punctuation.  While I emphasize ideas over conventions, it is often difficult to read even a good idea paper when it is filled with misspellings, bad grammar, and poor punctuation.  Your computer’s spelling checker and grammar checker should alert you to problems, so there is little excuse for these errors.  There is a site in Globalyceum Composition that will help you with punctuation.

See Globalyceum > Student Information > Composition > Punctuation

Discussion 2

Instructions

Choose a specific health behavior that you would like to set as a goal for yourself or for someone else, and develop a strategy or program for change.

First, briefly describe the specific health behavior you are addressing and why you are addressing this behavior (e.g., your own attitudes, societal norms, medical information, fear of future illness).

Next, briefly describe the behavior-change approaches and supports that you think would be appropriate to maximize the chances of success (e.g., cognitive-behavioral elements, operant conditioning or reward systems, self-monitoring, social support, etc.).

How should stumbling blocks be addressed? Assuming success, how would you prevent relapse? THE RUBRIC IS UPLOADED BELOW
